The Puppies at 6 Weeks Old
At 5 weeks we moved the puppies into our main living area! Enclosed in an 8' x 6' pen the puppies have lots of room to run and play. They are hearing many sounds such as the radio , TV, pots clanging, the vacuum, the phone ringing and of course us talking. Stocked with toys, a crate, a carry case, water, 2 beds and a 1 story cat house, and of course a puppy pad which they are using, the puppies are enjoying entering our everyday routine. While they are still nursing their mash eating skills are now perfected. Well that is except for the occasional face plant into the food or steping into the dish out of sheer excitment. Spending more hours awake now they actively play with their toys and each other and Gracie our 1 1/2 year old female Coton from Brandy's last litter.. Their teeth are coming in so the occasional squeel from a litter mate biting them is common, hence the learning process begins. We are brushing their soft silky coats as their hair is growing in. They are so excited each morning greeting us with happy barks and waging tails an lots of kisses! Each day we play with the puppies in a group and also individually. Handling them at least a dozen times a day delivering kisses, pets, belly and body rubs which they love. We have been using commands such as come, sit and paw, calling them by name, along with constant praises. Gracie our youngest Coton, a female we kept from Brandy's last litter, is enjoying playing with them. They are so excited to be around her and play. Our 2 boys Shadow and Chip are still herded away by Brandy so they keep their distance for now.
